There are lot of research into enabling multiple services within a single communication terminal unit (e.g. PDA). The PIFA which can be implemented in a small space, is an attractive design approach for mobile units. The ability to incorporate dual band or multi-band performance further enhances the merit of these antennas for future application. |

L-shape spur line loaded PIFA designed for mobile computing terminal (eg. Nokia 9110). The antenna is capable of dual polarisation to cater for GSM/DCS(Vertical) and WLAN(Horizontal) operation. The design is also able to general vertical polarisation in all three bands. |

Triple band operation generated from two L-shape spur line with a single feed probe. Matching is achieved by external extention of metal plate. |

A triple band antenna design for GSM, DECT and WLAN operation. Antenna uses 3 feed probes and is suitable for indoor picocell or handheld PDA applications. |
|
U-slot and V-slot antennas have excellent dual band and gain performance. When using degenerated modes, typical bandwidth is greater than 30%. A dual mode U-Slot antenna is also design where DCS and DECT bands are vertical pol. while WLAN is horizonal pol. |
Solution to undesirable radiation to human head
Perhaps the way to solve the problem of mobile phone radiation is to remove the human head
