Faith is to believe, Gods grace is like running streams that never ascend to higher ground. Its difficult for the self-conceited and self-contented to inherit Gods grace. Only those who regard themselves as lowly and undeserved will surely be cared for by Gods grace, for God resists the proud but dispenses grace to the humble. For Gods power is revealed more perfectly through the weak. We who deem ourselves to be able and clever, can in no way experience Gods mighty power. The closer is one to God, the more one feels feeble and lacking. The more the light shines upon one, the more one sees oneself as being in want and imperfect. But the proud and self-conceited, is far from God, not abiding in Gods light and does not know himself. Moreover, most people notice readily others manifest failure, nit not their hidden victory. Therefore, everyone must regard others as better than himself and must not be self-conceited despising others. For the Lord said, "And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased, and he who humbles himself shall be exalted." Hence, the humble reaps benefit, the proud reaps loss. That is, the proud will surely fail. |
