Faith is to believe. A believers good conduct glorifies God, whereas less desirable conduct will fall short of the glory of God and at the same time, it alienates others, especially non-believers. Hence, it is most important that in practical living, believers conduct well in work and in deed. Besides from not mixing with depraved, one must also not indulge in licentious living. In dealing with others, let us be willing to let others take advantage of us, but we must not do likewise to others, especially regarding petty greed, which is most revealing of ones base character. Secondly, words must match with deeds. Hence, we should regard what we have promised seriously. Once promised, it must be done, so that others will not discredit us. The common malady of most people is being miserable and petty, to contest on every iota of an issue, to promise superficially but short in dependability, to have no respect for uprightness, but to take advantage and plunder at every turn, to harm others to benefit oneself. However being God children and having Gods life and hence in daily living, believers are to bear much fruits of the Light, and also t have the outflow of Gods love, the can bear good testimony, glorifying God and profiting man. Someone ever said, "Christmas study the Bible to see God as to who he is and what he does, whereas non-believers examine how a Christian acts and lives." Hence, we note that a believers conduct does affect non-believers judging of ones faith. Such judging is directed specially to those believers, brothers and sisters, engaging in spiritual service and full time serving God, whose testimonies affect others profoundly. But if believers were to neglect or omit to pay the cost for their pursuit for spiritual growth, it will be difficult for them to bear good testimony, for only good trees bear good fruit. |
