Faith is to believe. God is a jealous God. He hates idols, for idols veil his glory. This is the act of Satans deceit: to have mans handmade images to replace God and to deceive man into worshipping and believing such images, to cause man not to know the everlasting true God who created heaven and earth and had dominion over mans breath, to cause man not to fear, to act recklessly, to sin without fear. Satan also uses earthly glory and wealth, and worldly fame and success, to mislead man to miss the true meaning in life. Man goes his own way, pay more attention to enjoying life, and is not interested to seek after the true God. Whereas we, saved by grace and had turned to the Lord, are as virgins betrothed to Christ, must have a pure heart, not to worship idols nor go astray into heresy, to despise present worldly wealth, honor, gain and health, to give the Lord the preeminence in all things, to live for him and to let God receive the glory that is rightfully his. Besides God, if believers were to love worldly things and people who would replace his sovereignty in their heart, which is a formless idol, it ill be an abomination to God. In such matters, let us be steadfast and be children of Gods delight.
