Faith is to believe. A joyful heart is as salubrious medicine. A sorrowful spirit dries up the bone. The Lord has given us his own peace and joy. We must exercise living in the joy of the Lord and experience overcoming difficulties in whatever circumstances. Even amidst such trials, we depend on the lord for joy. Joy is strength. Joy is the requisite sign of those living in grace. A healthy body depends on a joyful heart. Worries and anger, fear and sorrow hurt our physical body. However, joy quickens the spirit and soul. If a believer lusts after the flesh and the world, whereby quenching the work of the holy spirit and grieving the Holy Spirit, or having other affections besides God, not loving God earnestly, the result is to have his sorrow increased and joy decreased. King David of the Old Testament told us in one of his psalms, that he was able to be joyful in the heart and to live in peace, was because he often desired to be close to God, to have God as his satisfaction. Trusting that all goodness is not outside him, lets strive to become joyful believers and being always thankful in order to glorify God. |
